Our Annual Night at the Races takes the place of our regularly scheduled general membership meeting this month so we may enjoy an evening with DAA members and friends. We will do some good 'ol arm chair horse betting on nags like Hot to Trot, Easy Does It, and Nurse Nancie. The fun begins at 8:00pm. There will be plenty of Wild Mike's Wings, cold cuts, sides and cold beverages for all to enjoy. Bring a friend, a co-worker, a neighbor, ALL ARE WELCOMED.
FINGERPRINTING for background checks will take place at our January meeting and at all of our Spring sign-up dates. If you are intending on coaching any team in our organization, you must be fingerprinted for a background check. This includes assistant coaches, coordinators and board members. If you were fingerprinted in 2007, all you need to do is simply sign a form that states you are aware DAA is sending in the information to have your prints run for 2008. These forms will be at the designated sign-up dates as well. If you were not fingerprinted in 2007, you must be fingerprinted at these designated times.

The Delhi Athletic Association will have three scheduled sign-ups for all sports with the 3rd sign-up considered the last and final sign-up. ANY sign-up after the 3rd sign-up (January 24, 2008) is considered a late sign-up and will be accessed a $20.00 late fee plus all applicable fees.
DAA's sign-ups are listed on the website (www.daasports.com), in the Delhi Press, and surrounding school's newsletters.

2008 will be Delhi Athletic Association's 60th year Anniversary. I am looking for suggestions and ideas to celebrate this special event. We will be kicking off the year 2008 by moving in to our long awaited storage facility. The E-Board is looking into some other exciting events for the year as well. Some suggestions have been, A BIG PARTY, a coaches/family softball picnic, a DAA day at Kings Island to name a few. Keep the suggestions coming and we will put something together to celebrate this special anniversary.The end of the year football awards night will be held December 11, 2007 at Rapid Run Middle School from 6:00-8:00.Coaches’ applications for the 2008 season will be accepted in January and be taken through the March general membership meeting.
Your coach will be contacting you for uniform turn in. Please have your uniform cleaned if you have not already done so. Early sign ups will be in March please watch the web site for exact time and location. If you are unsure if your daughter is eligible for early sign ups please contact Karen Conroy at kconroy6@fuse.net.
It is my privilege to be the Chairperson for the 2008 Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has been in existence since 1965 recognizing those individuals who have gone over and beyond the call of duty for the advancement of Delhi Athletic Association as well as serving the youth of DAA. To date, 101 members have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. A complete list of past inductees can be found on the website under the Hall of Fame tab. It is an honor to be nominated by one of your peers. Nominations are now open and will remain open until June 1, 2008. To nominate an individual, simply call me or send me an e-mail advising who you would like to nominate. The nominee can be both an active member (a member currently active in the organization who meets the minimum requirements) or an inactive member (an individual who has not been active in the organization for the last three years who meets the minimum requirements). The minimum requirements for consideration are (1) Nominee has been an active member for seven (7) years, (2) Nominee has held an elected office for at least one (1) year or served on two (2) separate committees, and (3) Nominee has served in the capacity as a team manager, a coach, a supervisor of the farm system or intramural of a field manager, for a period of not less than five (5) years. A Hall of Fame application will be forwarded to the nominee for completion to assure that all accomplishments and contributions are correct and accurate for consideration. Past Hall of Fame inductees will then meet to vote on the nominees for consideration of induction into the Hall of Fame. Inductees for 2008 will be inducted at the July monthly meeting. I am sure there are many qualified individuals worthy of this recognition who have or are still demonstrating the qualities of Honor, Integrity and Service. The fall soccer awards ceremony for the top teams finishing in their divisions will be held on Thursday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Delhi Lodge. The MANDATORY coaches meeting will be held following the awards ceremony at 7:15 p.m. Make sure you bring ALL equipment and ALL soccer uniforms for your team.
With spring sign ups coming up in January, if you are interested in coaching soccer, please turn in you coaches application before February 28 to be considered. The Spring Soccer program will start in April. Please keep in mind that games are on Sunday’s in the spring and there is only 1 practice a week. It is an instructional season.
