CYBSL Announces AAA, Majors' Schedules

CYBSL Announces AAA, Majors Schedules

Colchester, VT (April 18, 2016) – A total of 59 regular season games, starting on Monday, May 2, as well as a preseason tournament and postseason playoffs, comprise the 2016 CYBSL schedule at the AAA (ages 9-10) and Majors (ages 11-12) this season.  The season unofficially gets underway with a preseason tournament, the inaugural Malletts Bay Madness, that takes place on the weekend of April 29-May 1.

The Madness tournament features four-inning games and round-robin style play beginning on Friday afternoon and concluding with championship game contests on Sunday morning (AAA) and afternoon (Majors).    The goal of this tournament is to provide the athletes and coaches an opportunity to play in game settings and build community within the league in advance of regular season play.  The games will also feature some non-traditional rules, such as 2-1 counts on each batter, pitchers throwing no more than 1 inning per day and a runner placed on first base to start each inning.  A pizza party will be provided to the winning team at each level.

The AAA, 12-game regular season opens on Monday, May 2 with a doubleheader and continues through Sunday, June 5.  The Majors, 13-game schedule will feature inter-league games as well as cross-league contests with South Burlington and Grand Isle, providing a more diverse experience for the league’s most senior players.  Playoffs will begin on Monday, June 6 with a single-elimination format at the AAA level and a double-elimination format at the Majors level, based on the number of teams.  Weather permitting, the Majors championship game will take place on Sunday, June 12 with the AAA title game scheduled for Monday, June 13.

All AAA and Majors games will be played on fields 1 and 4 at Airport Park.  Weeknight games will start at 5:45, unless otherwise noted, with weekend contests slated for 9:30am.  The start times for away games at Grand Isle and South Burlington will be at the discretion of those organizations.
